LA Times Snubs Familiarity with the Laws of Physics and Emergency Preparedness, Credits Prayer for Plane Landing

In a clear case of uncreative rhetoric, LA Times mistakenly credited Prayer for the successful landing of a plane yesterday in the Hudson River . All indicators point to A Clear Understanding of the Laws of Physics, specifically the relationship of Mass and Motion, and Years of Rigorous Emergency Training that allowed the pilot to successfully make a difficult water landing and enabled the crew to quickly evacuate the many passengers.

An Atheist Celebrates Christmas

You may find it odd that a lifelong atheist looks forward to celebrating Christmas, but Christmas has never been a religious holiday for me. In fact, growing up, it was years before I made the connection between Christmas and the supposed birth of the J man. You might say that having atheist parents saved me. So when I celebrate Christmas I do so without any thought of religious connections.

Dialogue With A Theist

A few days ago I received one of those chain-letter emails that circulate everywhere over the Internet. This one, complete with illustrations, claimed to be a memo to me from God on the subject of life. It requested that I refer any problems I couldn't handle to Him and that He would get to them in His own time. In the meantime His memo suggests that, instead of worrying about my problems, I should consider my blessings and remember that things could be a lot worse. God even gives some examples like:
