Effective July 2010 Meeting

Non-AU members will be charged $5 for admission to General Meetings. First-time visitors will not be charged and will receive two passes for free admission to General Meetings good for six months. The $5 admission can be applied to one’s membership if you join at that meeting.

Santa Monica Solstice Display, Charlie the Gnome, is Vandalized!
This year, Atheists United put up a playful image, a gnome with the face of Charles Darwin and the message, "Reason's Greetings from Atheists United.org." On the 22nd, a member visited the site and found "Charlie's" face had been bashed in. Atheists United President Bobbie Kirkhart noted, "Few religious people would go to such extremes to suppress alternate views, but there are always some people so insecure in their own beliefs that they cannot tolerate anyone who believes differently."

An Atheist Celebrates Christmas

You may find it odd that a lifelong atheist looks forward to celebrating Christmas, but Christmas has never been a religious holiday for me. In fact, growing up, it was years before I made the connection between Christmas and the supposed birth of the J man. You might say that having atheist parents saved me. LOS ANGELES, This year's holiday ads will advertise a feature not usually sold for the holidays-atheism, or more precisely, atheist community. Atheists United's radio campaign will direct listeners to a website that will inform interested parties of the factual history of Christmas and invite them to atheist events in Southern California during the holidays. You can also donate motorcycles, boats, and RV's too. Just indicate that you'd like your donation to go to Atheists United when you fill out the donation form on their website. I'd like to learn the truth about Christmas The holidays can be a tough time for non-believers. It seems religious people would like to convince non-believers that we have no place in holiday celebrations and that there is only one reason for the season. History tells a different story.
