Atheists United Launches Podcast Network for Atheist Content Creators

LOS ANGELES, September 14, 2022 -- Atheists United, the largest atheist community group in California, today announced the launch of a new podcast network for atheist content creators called Atheists United Studios. The network will serve as a hub for atheist and humanist podcast fans to explore the values, passions, and stories that make their community unique.

“With one in ten Americans now identifying as atheist or agnostic, the need for forward-looking humanist content is greater than ever,” said Evan Clark, Executive Director of Atheists United. “At Atheists United Studios, we plan to explore the unique questions, ethics, challenges, and aspirations of people trying to build a more secular and compassionate world.”

Similar media endeavors have been undertaken by the Atheist Community of Austin and the new media company OnlySky, launched in early 2022. Three in ten adult Americans identify as religiously unaffiliated today, according to data by Pew Research Center, with 36% of Younger Millennials identifying as unaffiliated. Networks like Atheists United Studios see this new, young, and secular demographic as an enormous untapped audience.

"Compared to other religions, atheist content creators are wildly underperforming," said Clark. "We hope this new network helps to diversify the secular and religious podcast landscapes while giving atheist listeners the critical yet engaging content they crave."

The network recruited two established shows, Beyond Atheism, hosted by Nathan Alexander and Todd Tavares, and The Humanist Experience, hosted by Sérah Blain and Evan Clark, which will anchor the network while they produce new originals.

The Nomadic Humanist, the first original show produced in-house by Atheists United Studios, will launch its first episodes alongside the network today. The show will “explore how individuals without a single fixed home or community live out humanist values.” Hosted by Anya Overmann, a full-time digital nomad since 2020 who writes and speaks internationally about humanism, the show’s first season will go for five episodes.

“As a digital nomad, I've been lucky enough to gain some unique insights about how to apply humanist values to a lifestyle of perpetual travel," Overmann said. “Joining this network and creating this podcast is an opportunity to share my passion for ethical travel and inspire others.”
