Atheists United Raises $2,075 for COVID-19 Emergency Relief with Virtual 5K

Atheists United organized a virtual 5K to raise funds for Black Skeptics Los Angeles (BSLA) COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund.

BSLA’s emergency relief program supported secular communities of color, as well as queer and LGBTQIA+ communities, often forced to rely on religious and faith-based institutions for aid and assistance. All funds raised were used to provide immediate assistance to secular people of color and their families — across religious affiliation — during the pandemic.

The 5K was organized for Thursday, May 7th -- also known as the National Day of Prayer by Christian Nationalists. This coincided with Foundation Beyond Belief’s Secular Week of Action and attracted runners across Los Angeles to participate and raise funds.

In total Atheists United raised $2,075 in aid and helped Black Skeptics LA fund ten secular families of color.
