Code of Conduct

Atheists United Event Code of Conduct 

At Atheists United, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environments at all of our events. We believe in fostering respectful dialogue and community engagement, and we expect all attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and staff to adhere to the following code of conduct:

1. Respect and Inclusivity:

  • Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and kindness, regardless of their beliefs, backgrounds, or identities.

  • Refrain from disruptive behavior that interferes with the purpose of the event or the enjoyment of others.

  • Embrace diversity and strive to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued.

2. Harassment-Free Environment:

  • Harassment in any form will not be tolerated, including but not limited to:

    • Verbal harassment, such as harmful comments, slurs, or derogatory remarks.

    • Physical harassment, including unwelcome physical contact or invasion of personal space.

    • Sexual harassment, such as unwanted advances, inappropriate comments, or gestures of a sexual nature.

  • This includes any form of harassment using photography or videography, such as following or filming individuals against their wishes, or using images or recordings in a harassing or intimidating manner. 

3. Safety and Security:

  • Help maintain a safe and secure environment by being aware of your surroundings and promptly reporting any concerns to event organizers or staff.

  • Follow all event rules, procedures, and safety guidelines, including those related to health protocols and emergency procedures.

4. Consequences of Violations:

  • Violations of this code of conduct may result in corrective actions, including warnings, removal from the event without financial reimbursement, or prohibition from attending future events hosted by Atheists United.

5. Commitment to Improvement:

  • Atheists United is dedicated to continuously improving our events and ensuring they are safe, inclusive, and respectful environments.

  • We welcome feedback and suggestions for how we can better uphold these principles and create positive experiences for all participants.

6. Reporting

  • If you experience or witness harassment, please report it immediately to event organizers or staff. 

  • All reports will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and confidentially.

All event participants, whether they are attending an in-person event or a virtual event, are expected to behave in accordance with this policy, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
