Where curiosity is celebrated
At Atheists United, we understand better than anyone the importance of creating a safe, secular space for people to explore their ideas, identities, and values.
Youth should be celebrated, not shamed, for asking honest questions.
According the US Secular Survey:
15% lower rate of depression among youth active in a local secular community
More than a third of secular youth had negative experiences with family due to their nonreligious identity
One third of secular youth had negative experience in education due to their nonreligious identity
Nearly 50% of young people are religiously unaffiliated

Our Values
-
We recognize the inherent dignity of every person. We lead with kindness, even when we disagree.
-
We don't just "tolerate" diversity; we seek it out. This is a safe harbor for LGBTQ+ youth, neurodivergent thinkers, and those from all cultural backgrounds.
-
We believe young people are capable of making informed choices. We are here to provide the tools, not the answers.
-
We value evidence, critical thinking, and the courage to ask "why?" No topic is off-limits if approached with respect.
Safety
-
Every adult mentor and volunteer undergoes a rigorous multi-state background check and an interview process focused on youth safety.
-
To ensure transparency, we maintain a policy where no adult is ever alone in a private space with a minor. All activities occur in "open-door" environments or groups.
-
Our staff and lead volunteers are trained Mandatory Reporters. This means we are legally and ethically bound to report any reasonable suspicion of child abuse, neglect, or self-harm to the appropriate authorities (such as Child Protective Services or local law enforcement).
-
At Atheists United, we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environments at all of our events. All youth and adult mentors agree to follow behavior outlined in our Event Code of Conduct policy.
