In 2017, as the nation faced a growing wave of hate crimes in the wake of the 2016 election, Soraya Deen and Marsha Novak organized a solidarity march in the San Fernando Valley. The strong response of 1,000 marchers and growing interest led to The Interfaith Solidarity Network, a 501(c) 3 non-profit.

Their work includes the Solidarity March, interfaith music festival, interfaith worship services, a Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, workshops and educational opportunities.

Atheists United and its chapter Santa Clarita Atheists & Freethinkers participate as part of the coalition, lending the atheist perspective to it and participating in solidarity events.
